Things To Remember When Applying For A Job

Applying for a job can be disheartening- like seriously, jobs are worse than men. The constant rejection and being "ghosted" on when you don't hear anything from them for a week and then you need to move on to the next. All employers want experience and sometimes you don’t have enough and it is this battle between gaining the experience and having the required experience that is required. You just left there thinking “if you won’t give me the chance then I won’t be able to get the experience” and you're just lost in this crazy, extremely busy world of work.

Although, I do have a ‘fill in’ job which is perfect for me at the moment I am still looking for a full-time job. I have had lots of people around me supporting me and telling me that I do have plenty of time and do not rush to find a job if you know that place isn’t right for you. Which is such great advice, but when all the jobs you want, don’t want you back it can be frustrating, BRB while I bury my face in the sand.

Things To Remember When Applying For A Job

Be Confident

Employers like confidence and that is what you need to do to impress. It is the whole fake it till you make it thing, make sure that you making a good first impression and believe that you will be a good candidate for them to consider. I know that can be easier said than done and the whole applying for jobs can be scary. But the ones where I just become confident and determined to do well are the ones that I am successful in.

Don’t Give Up

Although it might seem that no one wants you to work for them, but don’t let that stop you from trying. I do have those days where I feel that I don’t want to look at another application form but I always make the effort to brush that feeling off and start again.

Be Prepared

This definitely relates to when you get an interview; make sure you have read up about the company before attending. I also like to write out possible answers to the questions that could be asked in the interview (I normally do a google search to get some examples of these) so that you feel more prepared for the interview.

Go The Extra Mile

It is important to know something about the brand and why you want to apply for that job so that the employers know why you’d be a good fit for them. Making it personal to the job makes it look like you have gone the extra mile to get to know their company and that will put you on the top of the list.

Be Enthusiastic

Showing that you’re enthusiastic and willing to learn shows the employer that you are going to be a hard worker and willing to get as much information as you can. A little bit of enthusiasm goes a long way.

These are my top tips when applying for jobs, I have to now follow my own advice, especially the confidence one so that I will be able to get a job soon and hopefully it will be at a workplace I am happy at.
