24 things I have learnt at 24

It’s my birthday today and I cannot believe I am 24! Where is the time going? I remember (like it was yesterday) all my plans that I wanted by the time I was 21 and in my 12-year-old mind, I was considered an adult. Well let me tell you, I don’t feel any more of an adult than I did back then, I just have a few more responsibilities that I have to pay for to live the way that I do. I love these posts and have read a couple and so I thought I would do my own.

24 things I have learnt at 24

  1. Be yourself because who else are you going to be?
  2. Working is even harder than school and it can take over your life
  3. You can’t use contractions in university essays
  4. Houses are so expensive- you may have to keep living with your parents for the time being (I’m not too keen on the idea of renting- mainly because you don’t have the freedom to decorate however you want).
  5. Celebrate your own achievements because other people may not.
  6. Save a small amount of money each month- every little helps
  7. I have learnt to only trust people who have given me the reason to- otherwise, I just give them the benefit of the doubt
  8. Wine solves everything
  9. Pamper yourself every week, self-care is so important for your wellbeing
  10. Try to change everything around to be a positive thing- sometimes easier said than done
  11. Get rid of toxic/negative people, life is too short for that
  12. Get a hobby, it helps break up work during the week- make sure you fit in things that you love.
  13. Sometimes a break is needed. Life can get busy and overwhelming and its ok to have some space to recharge.
  14. Its ok to not know what you want to do for the rest of your life
  15. Know your worth, no one else will.
  16. Get help and support when you need it, it’s not a sign of weakness
  17. Get out and explore nature- there is nothing better than exploring new places
  18. Spend as much time with the people you love as you can
  19. Stop worrying about things out of your control
  20. The number of people you can depend on decreases as you get older but those people that you can count on mean more to you
  21. Don’t be so hard on yourself- you are bound to fail sometimes
  22. Try new things that are out of your comfort zone
  23. You are never too old to learn something new
  24. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
