5 Ways To Keep Loving Yourself

I know that Christmas can be a stressful time of year and that it is also a time for giving and sometimes we can forget to look after ourselves. It has been a long year and although you do need to spend time with the family it is also a great time to reflect on yourself and give yourself a chance to recharge before everything goes back to normal in the New Year.  

I love that Christmas is about giving and spending quality time with the family but if you are forgetting about yourself you can feel like you are giving way too much. You need to love yourself first and then that love can spread to other people- yes that is something that I have learnt in yoga. Your well-being is so important, we need to look after our mental health as well as our physical bodies, never forget that- even at Christmas.

5 Ways To Keep Loving Yourself

 #1 Have Some ‘Me’ Time

The holidays can get a bit busy with seeing all your family members and making time to fit all of them in before the year is out, but it is also so important that you have some alone time. It will allow you to breathe and relax to recharge yourself for the New Year.  Have a girlie pamper night or get lost in an amazing new book. Plug in some sound cancelling headphones and listen to a podcast or some music and drown out reality for an hour or so.

#2 Get Creative

As you should know by now, I am a love to create artwork, it always puts me in a positive mindset and relieves any stress that I have. Even if you’re not artistic, a colouring book can help you distress and allow you to have some time to reflect on your achievements. It gives you a breather from technology as well, as being on social media all the time isn’t good for your mental health.

#3 Watch a Film

Christmas is a perfect time to grab a cup of tea and get cosy in front of the telly, I have written a list of Christmas films that I love and there are plenty of films on over the Christmas holidays. You can even watch this with other family members if you agree on what to watch that is. I love watching films with my family, we get snacks and wine out and enjoy the film altogether.

#4 Reflect

It is also a good idea to reflect on everything you have achieved this year. It is always tempting to focus on all the negative things or compare yourself to other people. Take this holiday to really appreciate how much you have grown as a person and what you have achieved. I think I have become a stronger person, as there was a point this year where I wanted to quit and give up, but I continued through it and I am so glad that I did.

#5 Do Whatever It Is That Makes You Happy

Finally, do whatever it is that makes you happy this Christmas! It is so important to look after yourself and make sure you take the time to make that happen. It is a time for giving, but don’t forget to treat yourself too! Make sure that you are all making time for yourself this Christmas. All these things make me so happy and make sure you do everything you love and recharge for the New Year. And if you’re anything like me, have a whole new hairdo- short & red!!
